Introduction of Poet.
‘Doctor Faustus ‘ is the most famous drama of Christopher Marlowe belonged to the Elizabethan age, and he was one of the top dramatists of his age. He wrote a few play but every plays high quality and famous in his age. He can be easily compared with his contemporary William Shakespeare. He is also poet. He born on 26,Febuary,1564.in England place Canterbury. While at corpus Christ he studied philosophy and Theology.

Some Theme of the ‘Doctor Faustus’.

v Man’s Limitations and potential:

Many theme of doctor Faustus. But this theme is context to the renaissance. The possible rang of human accomplishment is at the heart of Doctor Faustus and many other themes are auxiliary to this one. This theme is the conflict between Greek or Renaissance worldview, and the Christian worldview that has held sway thought the medieval period.

v Pride and Sin:

Doctor Faustus first great sin is pride. He believes that he has god himself. He does not stop their pride of Owen. Sins arguable the one that leads to all the others. Only god through Christ, can dispense this forgets that fact deprive of the path to salvation.

v Flesh and spirit:
In Greek thought the division between flesh and spirit. But the Christians adapted the divide into their own belief system.

v Damnation:
Marlowe’s tragedy dramas are very famous. In the drama Dr. Faustus also we find Marlowe concentrating all his power of delineation on Faustus. Dr. Faustus is the representative of the Renaissance which brought the drastic changes in the fundamental beliefs of the people.

v Structure of the play:
The structure of Dr. Faustus inherited from the morality from apparently negates what the play experientially affirms the heroic aspiration of Renaissance man. Marlowe has set the play in the structure of a morality play and the fact Faustus represent the aspiration undeniable it is true. In the play how Dr.Faustus ‘tragically’ life and ‘Death’ is unmaking of a Renaissance man. I feel that the only logical conclusion that we can draw is that Faustus is Pico’s “Indeterminate man” caught in Calvin’s fatalistic world. This also makes the fall of Faustus inevitable.

v Doctor Faustus as “Renaissance man.”
Dr.Faustus is most famous drama of Marlow . I learn Dr.Faustus than I understand the Faustus was in no way a lesser dramatist than Shakespeare. In the Dr.Faustus we find the Renaissance man. Many elements of renaissance in Dr.Faustus so he like a renaissance man popel feel.
Meaning of Renaissance:
                                                                                i.            “Renaissance mean the “Rebirth”.
ii.            “Revival of arts and letters in the 14th to 16th century in Europe”.
In the drama renaissance  of means rebirth classical knowledge of Greek and rome. What empire got destroyed Europe, fell into Dark Age and then the Christian church was the domino the force. No, education in the society, no knowledge, the ordinary people did not have so, this way superstation become more common in the society. People also believe in black magic deeply.  The Catholic church become very powerful. However, in the 12th and 13th century, in Italy the renaissance movement started. The Renaissance was a period of fundamental change. The typical Renaissance reaction to this conflict between practices and ideals will not be altogether unfamiliar to the modern reader. Renaissance culture set high value on the obtainment of knowledge. The play is a reflection of their time in the world. In Dr.Faustus renaissance has come many ways. Dr. Faustus not satisfied of few knowledge. This thirst in him is a very important renaissance element. Dr. Faustus was a learned person, he was an individualistic type of hero. He want that the other people take his idea. Dr. Faustus began directly his life away from the true knowledge of god by expressing his thought about intellect and ability in scene one. He decided the best way to learn how to do so would be to become a magician. This practice  would allow him to know everything he desired to know. The play responded to make their points and those play become the most popular. In Dr. Faustus is a challenge to Christianity through evil. Good Angel and Bad Angel to get to him. We need to think that a man of the Renaissance ,he doesn’t endure panic fear of death, and he wants to hide himself in the sea or in the mountains. A very important renaissance element was an appreciation of beauty and art. When Faustus become very powerful then he wanted to have a very beautiful wife and he selected Helen from Greek mythology. We know that Helen was the most beautiful women in the Ancient Greece and for her the battle between Troy and Greece was fought.
Dr.Faustus  had the same spirit of beauty, he uses his magic, not to turn men into gods, but instead to turn his hecklers into beats. There was a Renaissance thirst for unraveling the best of the classics and there was a celebration of Renaissance come together in the Helen scene. He also become greedy for money and luxury. He did not give that much importance for knowledge for which his soul is sold. In the renaissance, the “new” meant the “old” the very old unwantaminated by intervening commentators of various sorts. Faustus began directing his life away from the true knowledge of god by expressing his thought about intellect and ability in scene one. There are some anti-renaissance elements that we can see in Dr.Faustus. Well what we can see that after he become very powerful he started to use his power for very small things. IT was precisely the general unavailability of the texts and there. The magic did not as a rule, pursue this logic to its conclusion even though it was available to them implicitly in their faith as catholic Christians and explicitly in the doctrinal utterance of various ecclesiastical authorities. Perhaps the most anti-renaissance element in Dr.Faustus is the death scene. When he was dying he became very coward and he forget everything and he wanted to get the forgiveness of god.
Christopher Marlowe would have suffered from the church that he was against Christianity. So, we have to think of the time of Christopher Marlow wrote the drama.
v Conclusion:
In conclusion ,I like to say that Dr.Faustus was a renaissance man and we have to remember the contribution of the scholars who dedicated their lives for bringing renaissance in Europe. For this purpose, the hero reject, religion or faith, medieval thought. And this play writer shows us by Dr. Faustus is challenged to Christianity through evil. And also we see that the different between Educated people and uneducated people.
